....ON MY RECENT VISIT TO KARAKA SALES IN NEW ZEALAND AND HAVING A CHAT WITH SIR PATRICK HOGAN,HAVING PURCHASED A YEARLING FILLY FROM HIM A FEW YEARS AGO,I WAS PRIVILEGED TO ONCE AGAIN VISIT CAMBRIDGE STUD....AND WHAT A MAGNIFICENT STUD IT IS.......

We saw ZABEEL who is an absolute wonder and has just put 60 mares in foal this year at the age of 23..My interest being he is the sire of one of my mares, BELLE OF NEW YORKs mother STARZEEL who herself, is a full sister to CRIMSON..mother of MISS SCARLATTI...sire being STRAVINSKY.and my mare BELLE OF NEW YORK being by STRAVINSKY as well........

ZABEEL....what a lovely quiet stallion and such a beautiful type

STARZEEL ....being the dam of  BELLE OF NEW YORK.

A VERY GOOD JUDGE OF A HORSE ALBERT STAPLEFORD (HORSE TRAINER) THOUGHT THAT STARZEEL IS A LOVELY TYPE OF A MARE WITH A LOVELY QUIET NATURE

                    .............................................................................................................

TAKEOVER TARGET DAY AT GOSFORD.....with Joe....

He is such a lovely quiet horse and didn't mind the attention....plenty of pats.

Saddled up in the Gosford Race Track enclosure....

More photos.......he just loved all the attention....

He was actually smiling at all the attention.......

He led the horses out in the Takeover Target race and galloped past the crowd....slowly that is with J.Ford aboard......Great Day....to see such a champion that has travelled the world and really "done us proud" in representing Australian Breeding & Racing......For Joe...from "rags to riches" with winnings topping the $6 million mark...

I am sure that he is well and truly enjoying being retired and pampered......

.....and to another retired home champion...to be continued.......who didn't travel the world but was a champion to all those people at home connected with him...............

an 8 year old called CRUZADO.......he didn't know how old he was and just kept racing and winning for his trainer Mr. Albert Stapleford.

he won just over $250,000 and some of his wins included.......

Moree Cup,Jungle Juice Cup at Cessnock which is an annual event each year and he created history in 2010 by winning the Cup for the second time also winning it in 2008 by being the first horse since the Cup's inception approx. 30 years,to win the cup twice and not in consecutive years. The only other horse to have won the Cup twice won it in consecutive years.

One of the best wins was in 2010 when he won the Race Callers Country Cup at Newcastle and he came from the tail of the field and widest runner and you would have thought that he was a 2 year old again with the devastating sprint home that he unleashed to pass the whole field and win the race......

Chris O'Brien partnered him in most of his races and steered him to many wins as has Chris with many other horses, as he did with one of mine, I called Helden Park winning by 6 lengths at Gosford one day and setting a class record.............

These are only a few of Cruzado's wins and he got better as he got older....he has now been retired by his owners after discussions with his trainer, to a lovely paddock where he can chew grass and look back on the good old days and remember the cheer from the crowd when he was first past the winning post....

He was an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to train and one of the stable favourites and gave both his owners and trainer many great days and will be pampered in his retirement as many good horses are and should be..........

CRUZADO   with his Gosford trainer Albert Stapleford who has been training for over 60 years and turned 80 in 2010,and has no plans himself of retiring yet, and has had many winners including a very good horse,a colt, that he selected and purchased at the Magic Millions for his owner Denis Wilton and trained by the name of Magic Albert who is doing a great job at stud with many winners to runners..............

MAGIC ALBERT....is proving a wonderful stallion at stud with more and more winners and Albert thinks that they will only get better with age........

UPDATE.........20.03.2011

Albert Stapleford won the Race Callers Country Cup at Newcastle on Newmarket Day for the second time in a row with Cincinnati Soux a 4 year old and he won the same race 2010 with Cruzado an 8 year old....let's see what can happen next years....who knows.

I was priveleged to visit Glenlogan Park in Beaudesert Qld last week and saw some very nice stallions, yearlings and weanlings........

Of the three stallions we saw of a 6 or 7 stallion roster two already have and are making and will make their mark on the breeding industry.

Show of Heart.....is siring some wonderful progeny...including Heart of Dreams...who has been very successful already as well as a host of others. When you look at him in the flesh, so to speak, you can see why he is so successful. He is a very striking individual.....and very very quiet.

                               SHOW OF HEART

                                                 JET SPUR

He is an up and coming sire and has a lot of winners to runners....around 8 winners to 11 runners..I think the stats were running or somewhere around there.

A very impressive, well muscled, quiet stallion and does pass a lot of himself into his progeny and they are good types themselves.

The new kid on the block.....so to speak...is a very striking, beautiful boy and I am sure that his progeny are going to be well sort after...especially with the family that he aspires from......his racing career was cut short but he could have been anything had he been able to continue.....

RED ELEMENT............I think a future star.......

He is from an outstanding family.....Sire: Red Ransom....Dam: Tracy's Element.....making him a full brother to Typhoon Tracy and we all know what an outstanding mare she is and has just been retired to stud duties...and really had nothing left to prove with her many prestigious awards that she won. Red Element is such a lovely quiet boy and loves plenty of pats which is testament to his nature.....

A very exciting young horse....and David Hayes speaking at the stallion parade last year had nothing but praise for him and said that he could have been anything if his career hadn't been cut short......
